Halifax Pop Explosion #HPX presents Martin Atkins

Welcome to the Music Business - You're Fucked

TS Martin Image

An examination of the internal and external problems you'll face in all levels of the business. Using humour as a weapon, Martin Atkins will point out the obvious, throw light in some dark corners and create an illuminating event illustrating the realistic, attainable goals that are possible in the new business - and, its funny as fuck!

The keynote will answer questions like:
1.  How do I get it my own way?
2.  How am I my own worst enemy?
3.  What strategies can I use to avoid the pitfalls of the past?
4.  Where is this all going?
5. What examples can I learn from?

***As part of the 5-day music festival, Halifax Pop Explosion presents The Music Matters Conference, which returns for its fifth edition.  Music Matters is a two-day conference of workshops, panels and speakers from the real world of the working music industry. The Conference takes place at the Citadel Hotel in downtown Halifax.****

For over three decades, Martin Atkins has been at the cutting edge of where the entertainment industry is and where it's headed, whether through his work with Johnny Rotten's band, Public Image Limited, playing with Nine Inch Nails, touring the world with his own band, Pigface, or working with Beijing's emerging indie rock scene. Martin was a member of Public Image Ltd and Killing Joke, has contributed to Nine Inch Nails and Ministry and founded industrial supergroup Pigface, The Damage Manual, and Murder Inc. Martin is a producer, drummer, documentary film maker, DJ, professor (Madison Media Institute, Columbia College) and most recently started his own entrepreneurial school, revolution number three. He has been organizing, booking, and managing multi-band package tours for over a decade. In discussing his definitive book on touring, Martin will not only share valuable insight into his methods on booking and touring, but also a discussion of mistakes and failures.

If you want to thrive - not just survive - as an artist you can't afford to miss this informative and entertaining event.
